Background
Ubaque’s topography is full of mountains with a very rich biodiversity thanks to a changing climate. It is located in the Oriente province in Cundinamarca Department. This province is 50km east of Bogota. The name of the town comes from a bush of red sap, Ybaque, which means the blood of the wood.
Cofinet collaborates with UBACAFE. The association was constituted in 2010 with 50 hectares of crops under shade. UBACAFE works with approximately 35 coffee families who produce only high-quality coffees. They mainly produce traditional coffee varieties such as Castillo and Typica.
Cofinet provides technical assistance so the farmers can improve their crops year after year, and as a result have found amazing surprises in the profile. In the cup we taste red apple, bright orange, and silky toffee!
